Practise What You Preach

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

Preaching betting discipline is easy, but actually following through and applying it yourself is not so easy.

I have a profitable racing strategy, but somehow I have managed to do serious damage to my bank by not being disciplined.

But I must confess, as good as I believe my strategy is, it’s slow earner, meaning greed can easily get the better of you, by either over staking, or looking elsewhere for the quiet days where there are no bets.

Hopefully I have learnt my lesson and will be far more disciplined from now on.

Discipline

If I am to get anywhere with my investment betting project discipline is will be key.

Having been fairly discipline so far the key will be focus. Things are going good at the moment, the bank is going up at a steady rate, and there have been no major losses. I have managed to stick to betting on only league soccer games for the most part and small dabbles on the Africa Nations Cup, where I felt more then confident on the results.

I have to be honest with myself and confess that I feel I am not taking enough bets. This means my bank is growing at a fairly small rate, if I were to suffer a decent loss it would take weeks to recover and that is where discipline is going to come in big time.

When things are going good and its smooth sailing, it’s very easy to stick to the plan. When you hit losses you start to question yourself, question your systems and sometimes try different and unnecessary bets and systems.

Hopefully this little documented note to myself will help me through the tough times, because just like any investment there will be downs.
