bet365 vs Betfair at a glance
Both are full sportsbooks with in-play betting, cash out, a bet builder and live streaming for funded accounts. The differences lie in the extras and in the companies behind them. bet365 is privately owned by the Coates family and started in Stoke-on-Trent in 2000; Betfair belongs to Flutter Entertainment plc and launched as an exchange that same year.
This bet365 vs Betfair comparison covers the Betfair Sportsbook, the fixed-odds half of the brand. One thing the table cannot do is compare their football prices directly: bet365 is not carried by the odds feed we record every day. Its rating therefore rests on five of our seven criteria, with the weight of price and coverage spread across the rest.

Why the table has no price row for bet365
Our football margins come from odds snapshots across seven English and Scottish competitions, and only bookmakers inside that feed can be measured. bet365 sits outside it, so the margin rows drop out of this comparison. Its rating is built from racing and extras, payments, safer-gambling tools, the welcome offer and the app, while Betfair’s also includes measured price and coverage.
If price matters most to you, check it yourself before each bet. Open the same match on both sites and compare the three match-result prices; the higher figure on your selection is the better place for that bet. Our margin tables show where the Betfair Sportsbook sits against every measured bookmaker, a useful benchmark for the bet365 prices you see.
The sign up offer and free bets compared
The two welcome deals work differently, and the offer boxes below carry the current versions. The bet365 sign up offer pays Bet Credits once a qualifying bet at the stated minimum odds settles; they expire seven days after issue, and some deposit methods do not count. Betfair’s sign up offer needs a first Sportsbook bet at evens or bigger.
That Betfair reward comes as free bets for bet builders, accumulators and other multiples only, and just debit card, Apple Pay or Pay by Bank deposits qualify. If you only ever back singles, the Betfair offer is worth less than its headline suggests. For a singles punter weighing bet365 vs Betfair, that restriction counts for a lot.
Neither free bet returns its stake. On round numbers, a £5 free bet that wins at 5.0 pays £20, where £5 of cash at the same price would return £25. Since 19 January 2026 the Gambling Commission has capped wagering on any bonus at ten times and barred welcome offers that mix betting with casino products.
Football extras: early payouts against Acca Edge
bet365’s 2 Goals Ahead early payout settles a match-result bet as a winner once your team leads by two goals, whatever happens afterwards. Sub On Play On carries a player bet across to the substitute who replaces your player. Its acca boost adds a percentage to the winnings on qualifying football accumulators, and the bet builder covers single matches.
Betfair’s answer is Acca Edge: if one leg of a treble or bigger fails, the stake comes back as cash. Most acca insurance pays a free bet, which drops its stake again when used; cash can be withdrawn or reused freely. For a weekend accumulator punter, Acca Edge is the most valuable single feature on either side of this comparison.
Racing: best odds guaranteed and the option to lay
For racing, bet365 offers best odds guaranteed, paying the starting price whenever it beats the price you took, plus extra places on selected races and the free 6 Horses Challenge. Streams need a funded account or a bet in the past 24 hours. Racing prices sit outside our measurement at both sites, so features carry this part of the comparison.
Betfair’s racing appeal lies largely next door, on the exchange, where you can lay a horse as well as back it and other customers set the price. The Sportsbook streams racing to funded accounts and allows cash out on racing bets. A punter who takes morning prices will lean towards bet365; one who wants to lay will need Betfair.
The Betfair Exchange behind the same login
Betfair also runs a betting exchange, reached from the same account as its Sportsbook. The Betfair Exchange is licensed separately, to TSE Malta LP, and it charges commission on net winnings in place of a margin built into the odds: a Market Base Rate of 5% on football, or 2% for customers on the Basic package of My Betfair Rewards.
The exchange takes singles only, so accumulators stay on the Sportsbook, and its Match Odds 90 markets settle at the 90-minute mark. Our margin tables show where the Betfair Exchange sits once commission is taken off, and the full Betfair Exchange review covers the packages, the Expert Fee for very profitable customers and the depth of its markets.
Payments and withdrawal speed
Deposits at bet365 go in by debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, paysafecard or bank transfer. A Visa debit card that supports Visa Direct usually receives a withdrawal within two hours; other debit cards take one to three banking days. Betfair accepts debit cards, Apple Pay, Pay by Bank, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller and bank transfer, from £5 by card.
Betfair is quickest through e-wallets, at one to four hours, while card withdrawals take two to five working days unless your Visa Debit supports Fast Funds. On payouts, bet365 vs Betfair splits by method: bet365 suits card users who want winnings back fast, and Betfair suits PayPal users. Credit cards are banned for betting in Great Britain.
Apps, support and safer gambling
Both Sportsbook apps score highly on the App Store and Google Play, and the table above carries the current ratings. bet365’s iPhone score rests on well over four hundred thousand reviews, Betfair’s on more than a hundred thousand. Both offer live chat at any hour, and Betfair also lists a phone line, 0844 871 7000, and @BetfairCS on X.
bet365 offers deposit limits, time-outs, stake limits, reality checks, a profit and loss totaliser and self-exclusion. Betfair adds loss limits and session limits to its own set. Both licensees take part in GamStop. bet365’s sports licensee settled a Commission case in April 2024, and Betfair’s shared a £2 million settlement in December 2025.
bet365 vs Betfair: which account to open first
Open bet365 first if you bet singles across several sports, back horses in the morning or want card withdrawals within hours. Its racing concessions and football early payout cover a lot of everyday situations. Open Betfair first if a Saturday accumulator is your habit: Acca Edge and the multiples-only free bets are built around exactly that.
Betfair vs bet365 also turns on price, which only you can check for bet365. Holding both accounts lets you take the better of two prices on every bet, and gives you an exchange for the times a lay bet suits. Whichever you open, set your deposit limit when the prompt appears at registration, before any money goes in.
Frequently asked questions
Is bet365 or Betfair better for accumulators?
Betfair, for most acca punters. Its Acca Edge refunds the stake as cash when one leg of a treble or bigger loses, and its welcome free bets are built for multiples. bet365 counters with an acca boost on qualifying football accumulators.
Which pays out faster, bet365 or Betfair?
That turns on the method you use. bet365 is quickest to a Visa debit card that supports Visa Direct, usually within two hours. Betfair is quickest through PayPal, Skrill or Neteller, at one to four hours.
Can I use Betfair free bets on singles?
Not the current welcome free bets. They can only go on bet builders, accumulators and other multiples. bet365's Bet Credits work differently, and the offer boxes under the comparison table show both sets of current terms.
Why is there no price comparison for bet365?
bet365 is not carried by the odds feed we record every day, so its football margin cannot be measured. Its rating uses five of our seven criteria, with the weight of price and coverage spread across the other five.
Does bet365 offer best odds guaranteed?
Yes, on horse racing. When the starting price beats the price you took, bet365 pays the starting price. It also pays extra places on selected races.
Is the Betfair Sportsbook the same as the Betfair Exchange?
No. The Sportsbook sets its own prices like any bookmaker and is licensed to PPB Counterparty Services Limited. The exchange matches bets between customers, charges commission and is licensed to TSE Malta LP. One Betfair account reaches both.
Which deposits qualify for the bet365 and Betfair welcome offers?
At Betfair only debit card, Apple Pay and Pay by Bank deposits qualify. bet365's terms say some deposit methods do not qualify, so a debit card is the simplest route at both.
Have bet365 or Betfair been fined by the Gambling Commission?
Both have settled cases. bet365's sports licensee agreed to pay £239,085 in April 2024 over anti-money-laundering and customer-interaction failings. In December 2025 four Betfair and Paddy Power licensees agreed to pay £2 million between them.
