Casumo review: the acca sign up offer

This Casumo review covers the sportsbook only, and finds a casino-born brand that suits acca punters and few others. The sign up offer refunds a losing first acca as free bets, the Play Okay limits are thorough and every deposit method counts. Racing fans will miss best odds guaranteed, and the licence moved to a new company in 2023.

Where this Casumo review begins

Casumo started life as an online casino licensed in Malta in 2012, and the brand still shows its roots. The homepage leads with games, the loyalty mechanics lean towards casino players and the sportsbook sits one tap away. This Casumo review leaves the casino aside and judges only the betting side, as we do with every bookmaker.

The sportsbook is better than its casino-first reputation suggests. It lists around a hundred sports, the in-play section is clean and quick, and Bet Builder is available on the major football markets. What it lacks is the racing extras British punters expect. The licence, our rating and the welcome offer sit in the file below.

A new name on the licence

If you look Casumo up on the Gambling Commission register, you will find two companies. Casumo Services Limited, account 39265, held the UK licence until it was surrendered on 3 November 2023. The current licensee is Recro Limited, account 61549, which lists casumo.com as its active domain and holds the betting permissions.

Recro’s real-event betting licence dates from 14 April 2023, with casino and virtual-event betting added that December. Both companies give the same Swieqi address in Malta on the register. For a customer, the practical point is simple: complaints, limits and any future regulatory decision now run through Recro Limited, and the register entry for 61549 is the one to check.

The Casumo sign up offer: stake back on a losing acca

The Casumo sign up offer works differently from most. You deposit at least £10, then place a first sports bet of £5 or more as a combo of three or more selections, each priced at 1.40 or bigger. If that acca loses, Casumo refunds the stake as one free bet worth up to £30.

If the first acca wins, you keep the winnings and receive nothing extra. Singles, system bets, Bet Builders and each way bets do not qualify, and horse racing and virtual sports are excluded. Every deposit method counts, including PayPal, Apple Pay, Skrill and paysafecard, which is unusual when so many rivals limit their welcome deals to debit cards.

Before the first bet, look for the Second Chance marker on the bet slip and check the welcome offer box is ticked. Domestic football usually gives you enough selections above 1.40 to build a treble. Keep the stake at a level you would bet without any refund, because a winning acca earns no bonus at all.

How the Casumo free bets behave

The refund arrives as a single free bet in the Valuables section of your account. It must go on another combo of three or more legs at 1.40 or bigger each, with combined odds no higher than 6.00, within seven days. As with all free bets, a winning one pays only the profit.

Here is a worked example with round numbers. Say your first £20 treble loses: you receive a £20 free bet. Place it on a treble at 5.00 and, if it wins, the return is £80. The 6.00 cap stops you chasing a long shot, which keeps the free bets closer to their face value than a token with no ceiling.

Our view of the deal is plain. It is a form of insurance on a bet you would place anyway, and it rewards only acca punters. If you prefer singles, other welcome offers on our free bets page give a better start. Our acca guide explains how multiples are settled before you build one.

Football betting and measured prices

Casumo is in the odds feed we record each day for the Premier League, Championship, League One, League Two, Scottish Premiership, FA Cup and EFL Cup. The file above shows its median margin and how many of the tracked fixtures it prices, and our bookmaker margins tables compare it with every other fixed-odds bookmaker in the feed.

Scoring in this Casumo review follows the standard weights: measured football price 30%, racing and extras 15%, payments 15%, and safer-gambling tools, the welcome offer, market coverage and app ratings 10% each. Holding a licence is the condition for appearing on the site and earns no points. The workings are on our how we rate page.

Existing customers get a weekly 20% boost on Bet Builder bets, which is the most useful running promotion for football fans. Other price boosts are modest next to the bigger UK bookmakers, and there is no early payout feature. The in-play screens separate live events from those starting soon, a small touch that makes evening football easier to follow.

Racing: the gap in the offer

Casumo does not offer best odds guaranteed on horse racing. That one omission rules it out as a main account for most racing fans, because taking an early price without that protection costs money whenever the starting price drifts. Racing is also excluded from the welcome offer and from the refund free bet.

Racing markets are still on the site, and the sportsbook takes bets on UK and Irish meetings without the extras. A racing punter who already holds Casumo for football might use it as a price check. For daily racing, our best odds guaranteed guide lists the bookmakers that pay the bigger price, along with their conditions.

Payments and withdrawals

You can deposit with Visa or Mastercard debit, PayPal, Skrill, Apple Pay, Trustly, instant bank transfer and paysafecard, from £10 on every method. Credit cards are not accepted, because UK law bans them for gambling. Casumo runs a closed loop, so withdrawals go back to the method you used to deposit, so choose it with care.

E-wallet withdrawals usually land within a few hours once Casumo approves them, and debit cards can take up to two working days. One cost catches people out: a fee applies to any withdrawal of £10 or less. Let a small balance build up before taking it out, or use it on a planned bet before you close the session.

The app and customer support

The iPhone app combines casino and sportsbook in one download, and its App Store score is solid from a modest number of ratings; the latest figure is in the file above. An Android app is available too. Registration on the app follows the desktop flow, and the welcome offer flag is easy to spot on the bet slip.

Support runs 24 hours a day by live chat and email. There is no prominent phone line, which some customers will miss when a withdrawal stalls. Keep the reference number from every chat you have. If a complaint is still unresolved after eight weeks, an independent dispute resolution service can review it without charge under Commission rules.

Play Okay: limits and breaks

Casumo’s safer-gambling section, Play Okay, is thorough. You can set a deposit limit for 24 hours, seven days or 30 days during registration, lower it at once and raise it only after 24 hours. There are also net deposit, loss and wager limits, a daily activity limit on time spent, and breaks from one day to six weeks.

Self-exclusion runs from six months to five years, and Recro Limited is listed with GamStop, which blocks every GB-licensed online operator with one registration. Set a limit at sign-up even if the figure feels generous; you can always lower it. Our responsible gambling page lists free help, including the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133.

The regulatory history

In March 2021 the Commission announced that Casumo would pay a £6 million fine and receive an official warning. The failings included no customer interaction with a player who lost £1.1 million over three years, and weak source-of-funds checks that accepted payslips without bank statements. The Commission also required an independent audit of transactions after 1 July 2020.

That case concerned the previous licensee. Recro Limited has no regulatory action on its register entry. Our method does not score past cases, since holding a licence is the condition for listing, but we think readers should know the history of a brand they are about to fund, especially when the licence holder has changed.

Casumo review verdict

Our Casumo review recommends the sportsbook to acca punters who want a softer landing on their first bet and value strong safer-gambling tools. The stake-back sign up offer works with any deposit method, and the weekly bet builder boost adds steady value on football. It makes a sensible second account for weekend multiples.

Racing fans should look elsewhere for their main account, and anyone who bets mostly in singles gains little from the welcome deal. If you join, set your Play Okay limits during registration, build the qualifying acca from three prices you would back anyway, and leave racing to a bookmaker that pays the bigger price.
