Tom looks after the numbers on Betting Insider. Every morning a script stores the prices UK bookmakers show for English and Scottish football, and Tom turns those snapshots into the margin tables you see across the site. He decides how outliers are handled, which competitions count and when a figure has enough fixtures behind it to publish.
He also wrote the rating method. Price carries the largest weight because we can measure it for almost every listed bookmaker. Every weekly refresh is calculated from the stored raw files by the same published rules, and any change to the method is dated on the how-we-rate page so readers can see what moved and why.
On the editorial side Tom covers betting exchanges, commission and how odds are built. His guides use worked examples with round numbers so the arithmetic stays visible, and he avoids claims the data cannot support. Questions about a figure can be sent to the postal address in our privacy policy, and corrections are logged under our editorial policy.
His checks run before any table is published. Tom confirms that each figure rests on at least five priced fixtures, that discarded quotes sit outside the published outlier limits, and that exchange prices carry the standard commission. Until the record holds 21 days of odds, the margins appear as an early sample and stay out of every rating.
Tom looks after the bookmaker margins page, the betting exchanges guide, the football betting sites list, the comparison hub, the Smarkets, Matchbook and Betfair Exchange reviews and the rating method itself. He also wrote the guides to how bookmakers set odds and to accas, both built on worked examples from real football prices.
