Where this Unibet review starts
Unibet began in 1997 and today sits inside Kindred Group, which the French lottery operator FDJ bought in October 2024. The UK site feels Scandinavian in its habits: football first, Bet Builder on every big match and a clean bet slip that encourages multiples. Racing gets proper attention too, mainly through streaming and best odds guaranteed.
The headline judgement of this Unibet review is mixed. The product is good, with Unibet TV and a flexible slip as the stand-outs. The compliance record is weaker than most rivals on this site, with two Commission penalties since 2023. The licence, our rating and the current offer are in the file below; the rest of the page explains them.
The Unibet sign up offer and its free bets
The Unibet sign up offer asks more of you than most. You deposit £20 or more by debit card or instant bank transfer, then place a £20 sports bet at evens or bigger that settles within seven days of registering. Racing, greyhounds and trotting do not count, and neither do boosted prices, cashed-out bets or void bets.
The reward arrives as four tokens worth £40 in total: three £10 Bet Builder free bets and one £10 accumulator free bet. Each needs at least four selections, none can go on racing, and all four expire after seven days. The welcome free bets reach you whether the qualifying bet wins or loses, which keeps the first step simple.
Those conditions shape the value. A four-leg Bet Builder is a long shot by design, so most of these free bets will lose, and a winning one pays only the profit because the stake is kept. Our free bets guide shows how to compare token offers fairly. Unibet’s deal suits accumulator fans; singles punters get less from it.
Football, Bet Builder and the bet slip
Football carries the site. Bet Builder allows up to 12 selections from one match, with player markets such as shots, tackles and passes alongside the usual goals and corners. A Combo Boost in the rewards area grows with each extra leg, and Unibet runs daily price boosts on the big fixtures. These extras are where the brand earns loyalty.
The most useful tool is newer. Add Selections lets you add legs to an open single or straight accumulator before it settles, with the stake unchanged and the bet repriced at current odds. You cannot remove a leg, Bet Builders cannot be extended and free-bet bets are excluded. It suits punters who build an acca across a Saturday.
A small side note on goalscorer bets. Until the last Premier League fixture on 8 November 2026, Unibet settles pre-match first, anytime and last goalscorer selections as winners when a goal the referee awarded is later ruled out by VAR. It is a short promotion, though it shows the trading team thinking about real frustrations.
Measured football prices
Unibet is in the odds feed we record every day across the Premier League, Championship, League One, League Two, Scottish Premiership, FA Cup and EFL Cup. The file above turns those snapshots into a median margin and a coverage share, and our bookmaker margins tables put it beside every other fixed-odds firm in the feed.
The measured football margin is the biggest single input at 30%. Racing and extras and payments are worth 15% apiece, while safer-gambling tools, the welcome deal, market coverage and the two app scores make up 10% each. A licence is the entry condition, never a score; see how we rate.
One thing worth knowing in this Unibet review: the bookmaker has a reputation for limiting accounts that win regularly, a practice common across the UK industry. If you bet seriously on football, keep more than one account open. Our guide to betting account restrictions explains why stakes get cut and what you can do about it.
Unibet TV and racing
Streaming is a genuine strength. Unibet TV shows all UK and Irish horse racing, EFL and FA Cup matches, the major European leagues, NBA, NHL and top-level tennis. You need a funded account or a bet in the last 24 hours to watch, and racing streams need at least £1 on the race. Greyhound coverage is wide as well.
Best odds guaranteed applies from 8am on race day to selected UK and Irish races, singles and multiples. Extra-place races, ante-post, Tote and in-play bets are excluded, and a daily cap limits the top-up. Extra places run on selected races, and a same-race multi lets you combine up to four selections from one race into a single bet.
Two racing limits matter. Same-race multis are outside best odds guaranteed, and Unibet’s own rules state that cash out is not available on horse racing at all. That second point will annoy anyone used to trading out of a big-field handicap. Our best odds guaranteed guide sets Unibet’s conditions beside other bookmakers.
Payments and withdrawal times
You can deposit with Visa or Mastercard debit, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Apple Pay, Trustly, bank transfer and paysafecard, from £5 on most methods. Withdrawals go back by debit card, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller or bank transfer. Credit cards cannot be used for gambling in Great Britain, a ban that has applied to every licensed operator since April 2020.
E-wallets are the quick route, usually within about 12 hours. Debit cards take one to three working days and bank transfers three to five business days. Unibet expects withdrawals to go back to a method you have already used for deposits, so a PayPal user should top up with PayPal once before asking for money out that way.
The apps and customer support
Unibet runs separate apps for sports, casino and poker. The sports app carries streaming, cash out and every promotion, yet its store scores are modest for a brand this size, and Android users rate it lower than iPhone owners. The latest figures are in the file above. Try the mobile site first if your phone struggles.
Live chat runs 24 hours a day and opens with an automated assistant before an agent takes over. Email and a UK freephone number are also listed. Write down your reference number with every contact. If a complaint stays open after eight weeks, you can take it to an independent dispute resolution service, which costs you nothing under Commission rules.
Safer gambling tools
The tool set is among the broader ones we have seen. You can set deposit limits and separate net deposit limits by day, week or month, choose reality checks every 30, 60 or 90 minutes, block one product for up to six months and take a break of up to six weeks. A behaviour monitoring system flags sudden changes.
Self-exclusion runs from six months to five years, and Platinum Gaming takes part in GamStop, which blocks every GB-licensed online operator at once. Unibet also points customers to BetBlocker and to the gambling blocks many UK banks now offer. Our responsible gambling page lists free help, including the National Gambling Helpline.
Two Gambling Commission penalties
In March 2023 the Commission announced that Platinum Gaming would pay £2,937,599. Among the failings, customers who had self-excluded or been blocked at sister brand 32Red were able to register with Unibet. In October 2025 a second case followed: a £10 million penalty, a warning and an extra licence condition.
The 2025 findings covered January 2023 to May 2024. One customer lost £5,000 within 24 hours of registering and more than £16,000 in under three months without being flagged as at risk. Accounts closed over money-laundering concerns before 2023 were not properly accounted for. The Commission also required an independent audit of the fixes.
Our method does not deduct points for past cases, since a valid licence is the condition for listing. We still think a reader should know about repeat failings on customer protection. The register entry for account 45322 is the place to check for anything newer before you open an account.
Unibet review verdict: who should join
Our Unibet review recommends the bookmaker to football fans who build multiples and want to watch while they bet. Add Selections, a deep Bet Builder and Unibet TV make a strong everyday package, and the free bets in the welcome deal are built for exactly that style. Racing fans get streams of every UK and Irish meeting.
It suits singles punters less, and racing traders who like to cash out will find the door closed. Weigh the 2023 and 2025 penalties too. If you join, pay in by debit card, set a deposit limit during registration, and keep the Unibet sign up offer for a weekend when you would build a four-leg acca anyway.
Frequently asked questions
Who holds the Unibet licence in the UK?
Platinum Gaming Limited holds it under Gambling Commission account 45322. The licence covers betting, casino, bingo and pool betting, and the company also runs uk.bingo.com. Unibet belongs to Kindred Group, which FDJ bought in October 2024.
What can I use the Unibet sign up free bets on?
You get three £10 Bet Builder free bets and one £10 accumulator free bet, each needing at least four selections. They cannot be used on horse racing, greyhounds, trotting or virtual sports, and they expire after seven days.
Can I claim the Unibet welcome offer with PayPal?
No. The qualifying £20 deposit has to be made by debit card or instant bank transfer. E-wallet deposits such as PayPal, Skrill and Neteller leave you out of the offer, although you can still bet normally.
Does the qualifying bet have to win?
No. Unibet credits the free bets once the qualifying £20 bet settles, whether it wins or loses. The bet must be at evens or bigger and must not be cashed out, voided or placed on boosted odds.
Does Unibet offer best odds guaranteed?
Yes, on selected UK and Irish races from 8am on race day. Extra-place races, ante-post, Tote and in-play bets are excluded, and there is a daily cap on the extra amount paid.
Can I cash out a horse racing bet at Unibet?
No. Unibet's racing rules state that cash out is not available on horse racing. Cash out works on other sports, but racing bets run to the finish once placed.
How long do Unibet withdrawals take?
E-wallets such as PayPal and Skrill usually arrive within about 12 hours. Debit cards take one to three working days and bank transfers three to five business days, after any identity checks are complete.
Has Unibet been fined by the Gambling Commission?
Yes, twice. Platinum Gaming paid £2,937,599 in 2023 and £10 million in 2025, both for anti-money laundering and customer-protection failings. The 2025 case also brought a warning, a licence condition and an outside audit.
