How we sort the best football betting sites
The order above follows one number: the median margin each bookmaker carries on Premier League match-result markets in our data. A lower margin means the prices are closer to fair odds, so a punter gets more back over hundreds of bets. Every other feature matters less to regular users of football betting sites than that.
A worked example with made-up round odds shows the idea. Say a bookmaker offers 2.10 on the home side, 3.40 on the draw and 3.60 on the away team. The implied probabilities are 0.476, 0.294 and 0.278, which add up to 1.048. That extra 4.8% is the margin, and it is what you pay on every match result.
The rating shown on each listing is wider. Price counts for 30%, racing and extras 15%, payments 15%, and safer-gambling tools, welcome offer, market coverage and app ratings 10% each. A UK Gambling Commission licence is the entry ticket, never a score. The full method sits on our how we rate page.
One big name is missing from the list, and the reason is method. bet365 is not in the odds feed we record, so we cannot sort it by football price. Its review still rates it on the other criteria, and you will find it in the general ranking on our homepage and in the app and racing tables.
Premier League against the Championship
Put the two tables next to each other and the pattern is plain: most bookmakers charge more on Championship games than on the Premier League. The gap widens again further down, in League One and League Two, and the early cup rounds can be dearer still. Our full set of competitions is on the bookmaker margins page.
Casumo: 5.07% → 10.55%
No line climbs further. Next comes LiveScore Bet, which prices League Two at 11.73% against 6.75% for the Premier League, while Ladbrokes stays almost level.
| League | Median of 21 |
|---|---|
| Premier League | 6.73% |
| Championship | 7.36% |
| League One | 7.00% |
| League Two | 7.11% |
Each line is one site, the thick line is the median of all 21; match-result markets, odds recorded daily over the last 13 days.
Why do lower leagues cost more? A bookmaker takes far fewer bets on Barnsley against Wigan than on Arsenal against Chelsea, so one sharp punter can move its book a long way. Team news is thinner and harder to check. With less money and less information, traders widen the margin to protect themselves, and every customer pays for that caution.
There is also less pressure from price comparison. Premier League odds are the shop window, checked by millions on comparison sites before every weekend, so a bookmaker that drifts too far out of line loses business at once. A Tuesday night fixture in League Two draws far less scrutiny, and the prices tend to reflect that quieter market.
The cheapest football prices of all usually come from betting exchanges. Even after commission on winnings, the exchanges in our data so far sit below every fixed-odds bookmaker on the Premier League. The trade-off is liquidity: on smaller leagues there may be little money waiting to be matched. Our betting exchanges guide explains how backing and laying work.
Football markets at UK bookmakers
Match result, often shown as 1X2, is the market we measure because every bookmaker prices it and it carries the most money. Picking the draw is where many punters find the best odds, and it is also the outcome most often priced generously by firms trying to look competitive. Our tables cover this market for all seven tracked competitions.
Both teams to score is a simple yes or no question, and it suits games between two attacking sides with leaky defences. The odds tend to sit close to evens on either side, so the margin is easy to spot: if both options are priced at 1.80, the bookmaker is charging you heavily for a coin flip.
Over and under 2.5 goals is the second market our snapshots record. It asks whether the match produces three goals or more. Because it has only two outcomes, the margin is often lower than on the match result, but the spread between bookmakers is still worth checking. A small difference here adds up across a season of Saturdays.
Beyond these, the big UK bookmakers offer corners, cards, first goalscorer, correct score and player shots on target. These markets are fun, but they carry wider margins because they are harder to price and attract smaller stakes. Betfred adds a twist with Double Delight and Hat-Trick Heaven, which double or treble first-goalscorer odds when the player scores again.
Bet builders and accumulators
A bet builder combines several selections from one match into a single bet, such as a home win, both teams to score and a named player to be booked. Every bookmaker in the ranking offers one under its own name: Sky Bet calls it BuildABet, William Hill uses Build #YourOdds and Betfred runs #PickYourPunt. Midnite allows up to 20 selections.
The catch with bet builders is that the margin compounds. Each leg carries its own margin, and the bookmaker also adjusts the combined price for how the legs relate to each other, so the final odds are rarely as generous as they look. Treat a bet builder as entertainment priced accordingly, and keep the stake smaller than a single.
An accumulator links selections from different matches, and every leg must win. Four selections at evens pay 15 times the stake plus your money back, which explains the appeal. The same maths works against you: the margin multiplies with every leg. Our acca guide works through the numbers and the common acca types step by step.
Acca extras at football betting sites
Acca insurance is the most common extra. Paddy Power, Betfred and BoyleSports return your stake as a free bet when one leg of a qualifying football acca lets you down, and Ladbrokes does the same on accas of five teams or more. Betfair’s Acca Edge stands out because it refunds the stake as cash, not as a free bet.
Sky Bet takes a different route with AccaFreeze. On accumulators of five selections or more, you can lock in one leg as a winner before it is settled, which suits a punter who thinks one game is shakier than the rest. It does not cost extra, but the leg you freeze is gone from the bet once you use it.
William Hill boosts winning football accas instead. The boost starts at 3% for two legs and climbs to 200% for twenty or more, with each leg priced at 1/5 or bigger, and the promotion runs until 30 May 2027. LeoVegas runs its own unlimited boost on qualifying accas. Boosts reward long accas, which are also the least likely to land.
Early payout offers settle a bet as a winner before the final whistle. Ladbrokes pays out under 2UP when your team goes two goals ahead, and bet365 runs 2 Goals Ahead Early Payout on the same principle. BetVictor and BoyleSports list early payout among their extras too. These features matter most on strong favourites that sometimes concede late.
Cash out and what it costs
Cash out lets you settle a bet before the event ends, at a value the bookmaker sets. Most of the football betting sites in our table offer full and partial cash out, including Paddy Power, Ladbrokes, Coral, BetVictor, Midnite and Betfair. William Hill offers full cash out, and Football Ground Guide reports that the partial version is unavailable there.
The cash out value is a price like any other, and it carries its own margin. Taking it regularly means giving up a slice of value on bets you would have won. It is useful when something changes, such as a red card or a sudden injury, and you want out. Used every weekend, it quietly lowers your returns.
Shirts, sponsors and sign-up offers in 2026
Here is a side note for anyone watching on television this season. Premier League clubs agreed in 2023 to drop gambling brands from the front of matchday shirts from the 2026-27 season. Sleeves, training kit and pitch-side boards are still allowed, so the logos have not vanished; they have simply moved to smaller spots.
Welcome offers changed too. Since 19 January 2026 a single incentive may only cover one type of gambling, so the old pairing of football free bets with casino spins is gone in Great Britain. A betting offer now rewards betting only, and each box above shows the qualifying odds, expiry and the rule that free bet stakes are not returned.
Keeping matchday betting in check
Football runs almost every day of the week, and football betting sites make it easy to bet more often than planned. Since 30 September 2026 every UK operator must offer gross deposit limits over 24 hours, seven days and a month, and you are asked to set a limit before your first deposit. Set one before the season gets busy.
If football betting stops being fun, a time-out or self-exclusion with your bookmaker is the first step, and GamStop blocks you from every licensed online operator in Great Britain with one free registration. The exclusion does not end by itself: after the minimum period you have to contact GamStop to lift it. Our safer gambling page lists further support.
Where these prices come from
Once a day a script stores the prices UK bookmakers show in a commercial odds feed for the Premier League, Championship, League One, League Two, Scottish Premiership, FA Cup and EFL Cup. For each fixture the last snapshot before kick-off counts. We take the median margin of the full match-result book, include exchange commission and discard quotes above 30%.
Only football is measured, so racing, darts and snooker prices play no part, and bet365 sits outside the feed. The tables are refreshed weekly, and the odds history is still short. For a punter who bets mainly on the Premier League, the best of the football betting sites is simply the cheapest one in the table above.
243 fixtures · 13 days of odds · updated 2 November 2026Frequently asked questions
Which football betting site has the best odds?
The cheapest place to bet is the site with the lowest margin in the table on this page, exchanges included, and that can change when the data is refreshed each week. Betting exchanges usually sit below every fixed-odds bookmaker once commission is included.
What is a bookmaker margin on football?
It is the amount by which the implied probabilities of home, draw and away add up to more than 100%. A lower margin means more of your stake comes back to you over many bets.
Why are Championship and League Two odds worse than Premier League odds?
Bookmakers take fewer bets and have less information on lower-league games, so they protect themselves with a wider margin. In our data the Premier League is usually the cheapest English competition to bet on.
Is bet365 included in the football price ranking?
No. bet365 is not in the commercial odds feed we record, so it cannot be sorted by price here. Its review rates it on the remaining criteria.
What is acca insurance?
Acca insurance refunds your stake, usually as a free bet, when exactly one leg of a qualifying accumulator loses. Betfair's Acca Edge is an exception that refunds the stake as cash.
What does 2UP or two goals ahead early payout mean?
If the team you backed goes two goals clear, the bookmaker settles your match-result bet as a winner even if the lead is later lost. Ladbrokes calls it 2UP and bet365 calls it 2 Goals Ahead Early Payout.
Is cash out a good idea on football bets?
Cash out is convenient, but the offer is priced with a margin of its own, so you usually get back less than the fair value of the bet. Use it when your circumstances change, not as a routine.
Can I use a credit card on UK football betting sites?
No. Credit cards have been banned for online gambling in Great Britain since 14 April 2020. Debit cards, bank transfer and some e-wallets remain allowed.
Can a welcome offer still include free spins with a football bet?
Not in Great Britain. Since 19 January 2026 a single incentive may cover only one type of gambling product, so a betting sign-up offer can only reward betting.
